Tia Mowry and her husband of 14 years have called it quits. The Internet is reeling today as news that the beloved couple will be ending their marriage. Details on what caused the split have yet to go public, but Tia has been very generous to her fans for years, bringing them into her household through reality television, social media, and more. Let’s take a look at her relationship with Cory Hardict and announcement.
With a black and white image showing the two holding each other, Tia let fans know that she always appreciates the space they give her to speak honestly and wanted to honor that. “I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness.” It is unclear where the image is from, but it looks like it was taken from a set. The couple recently starred opposite each other in 2000’s Hollywood Horror. Tia assures fans that her priority right now is them co-parenting for their kids; “we will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.” Hardrict and Mowry have a son named Cree Taylor, who was born on June 28, 2011, and a daughter named Cairo Tiahna, born on May 5, 2018.
She concluded the post by saying, “I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family, and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.” One of the first people to comment was her twin Tamara saying, “❤️❤️❤️❤️ love you!” While fans proclaimed their shock at the pair splitting. “actually heartbreaking for many reasons ❤️ Praying for God’s comfort to you both.”
Cory has yet to share his own announcement but posted a meme on his Instagram story stating, “acting off emotion will cost you every time.” He followed this up with two clips of his kids and a final post promoting the upcoming season of All American. His last post of his wife was 3 months ago for her birthday. “Happy Birthday, you deserve the very best from this Planet. I’ve found the meaning of life because of you keep shining bright baby🌻☀️…Love you forever!! 🙏🏾✨”
Fans commented on the post following Tia’s announcement proclaiming, “Damn not even three months later,” and “You better fight for her back @coryhardrict even if it was her fault 😂 fight my brother.” Meanwhile, Tia had alluded to a drastic change in her story a few hours before the announcement went public. The actress shared a post from vexking stating, “Letting go can be painful. But it won’t hurt as much as holding on to an illusion.”
Tia and Cory had a beautiful story that many fans loved. The pair met when Tia and her sister spotted him sitting at a bus stop and offered to give him a ride. Cory admits that at the time, he was super down on his luck and had just shot his first film. He was working odd jobs and had no money; meanwhile, the girls had just wrapped Sister, Sister. “Her sister and her drove by; they saw me waiting and asked to give me a ride. I was embarrassed. I was downtown. They gave me a ride, and we were friends ever since. They took me to Inglewood, so that’s how that relationship started.”
The duo were patient and waited to be intimate with one another to make sure that they had a genuine connection. Tia admits she was a virgin till the age of 25 and had reservations about sex. However, she and Cory did things the right way for them, and it proved to make their relationship stronger. “We courted each other for about a year. We didn’t go on dates with just him and I, there were other people around. We waited a year to kiss. That’s basically what I did.”
Many sites have gotten hold of the court documents and revealed that Tia filed for divorce Tuesday, October 4th, in Los Angeles. Actress no longer believes the marriage can be repaired and cited “irreconcilable differences” for the reason behind the divorce. Tia is requesting joint physical and legal custody of their kids. The documents also reveal that there is a prenup in place, and the couple will not be paying spousal support. Tia previously admitted to struggling and even needing therapy when considering expanding their family with a third child. She eventually revealed that quarantine helped her make the decision that she did not want any more kids. No word on if this caused the rift between her and Cory.
