A Look At R&B Singer Miguel and His Wife Nazanin Mandi’s Marriage Amid Divorce

Fans of black and brown couples have taken a second loss today. R&B singer Miguel and his model wife Nazanin Mandi have called it quits for a second time, shocking fans who are still trying to process Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict’s split. Miquel and Nazanin’s might come as less of a shock since the duo previous split for a while before deciding to reconcile. Unfortunately, it is still heartbreaking, considering how long they’ve been together.

Miguel and Nazanin have been together since they were teens, and grew their careers together. By the time he’d become an R&B star, Nazanin was working her way up the fashion ranks and starring in his videos. Because they met so young, the two made a lot of mistakes in love and have been very candid about them. This included rumors of infidelity. Miguel opened up once about loving Nazanin but sometimes not feeling “in love” with her. “I loved her, but I wasn’t necessarily always in love with her at the time. My actions showed that. Because I didn’t know, I was still discovering things for myself, about me. [I was finding] How to love myself and going through that, just transitioning from being a little more obscure and then all of my time and energy going into music,” the singer stated.

The pair reportedly threw themselves into therapy heavily and eventually found a solid foundation to grow from. From there, it was all a matter of them continuing to work on things, but the pair seemed happy and continued to grace red carpets and photoshoots together. Miguel and Nazanin would eventually tie the knot in November 2018 in an “intimacy ceremony” at Hummingbird Nest Ranch outside of Los Angeles that was captured by Vogue Magazine.

At the time, Nazanin opened up about the timing of it all, and things just felt “right.” “It was a long time coming, and when you’re with somebody starting from 18, a lot of things happen.” Nazanin reflected on the amount of changes they had to make to be the right fit for each other. “There is a lot of growing pains through our twenties. It was the time to get our minds right and really find ourselves. Through that process, we grew together and not apart. Now in our thirties, it just felt so right to finally make it official.” Nazanin admits that marriage brought them closer and that she loved him even more than she did before.

The couple even survived quarantine, or at least that is what they wanted us to believe. Nazanin opened up about how the pair were used to being joined at the hip, but since they traveled so often, they did not mind it. However, being stuck at home together, they quickly had to find a new way to keep the spark alive. “But being home alone all the time, it’s like, ‘Okay, we have to find new things to watch, and to do and to read,’ “Nazanin said at the time. “It was a lot but overall we did great. I have no complaints. I am grateful for everything.”

It is unclear how soon after that statement they originally split, but by 2021 a representative for the pair announced that they had been separated for some time and looking to move towards divorce. “After 17 years together, Miguel and Nazanin Mandi have decided to separate and have been for some time now,” their rep told PEOPLE Magazine exclusively. “The couple both wish each other well.”

It was not even a year later that the duo had announced that they had found their way back to each other. The duo confirmed their reunion to The Shade Room while attending the Smokin Grooves Festival in Los Angeles. Miquel and Nazanin smiled it up for the cameras and declared they were happy. Naz posted an image soon after with the quote, “Heal the root, so the tree is stable. I’m so proud of us. The Pimentel’s xoxo.”

Unfortunately, the healing was simply not enough. Naz filed on Tuesday, October 4th, claiming her and Miguel were unable to continue marriage citing irreconcilable differences. The couple reportedly has a prenup in place and shares no kids. Fans online are sad for the couple. One person said, “Nazanin and Miguel need to stop playing with my emotions BECAUSE YALL SAID THIS LOVE WAS A SURE THING.”
