Actress Countess Vaughn Is The Latest Celebrity To Lose A Parent

Countess Vaughn is famous for portraying Kim Parker on Mosha and The Parkers. The television star has been mostly out of the spotlight since those days, with brief appearances here and there. Fans took to her social media today to send her love and prayers after she revealed that her father had passed away.

Countess is a native of Idabel, Oklahoma, where she was raised by her parents, Sandra and Leo Vaughn. She was born in 1978 and got her start singing in church with the encouragement of her parents. They eventually got her on Star Search, where she did well, and eventually got her some small roles on television shows like 227, Thea, and Hanging with Mr. Cooper. Of course, her career would take off as one of the breakout stars of Moesha, making Vaughn a staple on the UPN network.

Countess first alerted fans of her father’s passing with a post saying, “Y’all my daddy is gone🙏rip pray for me,” with a photo of the late Leo Vaughn. She posted another picture of him saying, “I love you daddy 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢” with a photo of him smiling. She followed up with one more that showed her and her dad together. Fans flooded her comments with condolences, including Loni Love, who said, “I’m so sorry … prayers for you and the family. Remember good times🙏🏾🙏🏾” Her Moesha co-star Marcus Paulk said, “🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 @countessdvaughn we love you stay strong friend.”  There is not a lot of information known on Leo Vaughn or Countess’s family. His cause of death has also not been revealed.

Last year for Father’s Day, Countess shared the same image of her father that she posted today with the caption “Happy Father’s Day. I love you so much 😂my twin.” The image is a cropped photo of her father, but on March of 2021, she posted the full image revealing her mother is also in the picture. “Happy Anniversary 49yrs🎉🎉🎉my parents have been married 🙏” she captioned that post.  Scrolling through her IG, you can tell that Countess is a sensitive soul and has several posts dedicated to celebrities we’ve lost in recent years, from paul Mooney to Chadwick Boseman.

Countess joins the likes of Tyrese, Snoop Dogg, and Jhene Aiko, who recently lost loved ones.  Tyrese used his social media as a way to cope much like Countess is doing, sharing videos and pictures of his late mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, who died from complications with Coronavirus. He frequently asked fans for prayers and shared his mother’s final moments with a the world in a heartfelt post of him holding her hand. “My sweet Valentine just passed away….. May the Lord Jesus Christ and his angels open the doors of heavens and embrace her.”

Snoop Dogg’s mother passed away last year under similar circumstances. The west coast legend posted several videos of him in the hospital visiting her. Beverly Tate was in critical condition for several weeks. Snoop took to his IG occasionally to ask fans for their love and support. Unfortunately, she lost her health battle in October of 2021.  Let’s continue to uplift Countess and these other celebrities as they deal with losing their loved ones.
