Jackée Harry is an accomplished Hollywood star who is still out working hard. The 227 and Sister Sister alum is currently starring on the long-running series Days of Our Lives and its spin-off Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem and opened up to PEOPLE magazine about her career and dating life. Safe to say, Ms. Harry likes em very young, as she admits to looking for love in the wrong places.
Harry is all about having fun right now and is enjoying a career resurgence thanks to her inclusion on the show. Speaking on her new role she said” The show’s head writer Ron Carlivati had a character [Paulina] in mind. He and co-executive producer Albert Alarr asked me if I wanted to play it. That’s really what you want as an actor – someone to create a character just for you. The idea of it being [ongoing] appealed to me.”
Harry was married to celebrity hairstylist Elgin Charles from 1996-2003. The two share an adopted son together. Upon their divorce, Harry opened up about how they had grown apart but still had a lot of love for each other. They adopted a boy named Frank in 1997 when he was only eight months old. Frank is now 24 years old and an aspiring boxer.
Prior to Charles, Harry had been married twice. One for four years and the second time in a rushed Las Vegas affair that ended shortly after. Harry is enjoying being single and has an adult child she no longer has to take care of, so she is trying to make the best of it. “I’m dating because I like people and I love to socialize,” she says. “So I have friends who try to hook me up and I’ll have people I’ll be eyeing in the supermarket or library.”
She also opened up about the ideal places to meet men, citing several famous bookstores and grocery store chains like Barnes & Noble and Whole Foods. Also, telling women to dress appropriately leaving some to imagination. While Harry is making sure to enjoy herself, she admits she is still super focused on her career and finding new and challenging work opportunities until she finds the one again.
The actress famously spoke to Mario Lopez about her desire to marry again. She has been opening about feeling people should keep trying until they get it right. However, she is very clear on one thing if she tried again, she wants a prenup. “I don’t want to fall in love for love’s sake,” she says. “I want to enjoy it because I don’t know how much time I have left. So if I’m able to, I’ll keep going. I’ve been fortunate.”
