AJ Johnson Done ‘Kicking It’ With American Men: “African Men Commit, American Men Only Want To Kick It

Adrienne-Joi Johnson is the African-American actress most famously known for her roles in Baby Boy, Sister Act, and School Daze. However, she professional goes by AJ Johnson and has been a staple on our screens since the ’80s. She keeps a pretty low profile, with her most recent work being 2020’s romantic comedy “Stuck On You.” Johnson described the show as #relationshipgoals and exploring how people portray their relationships on social media.

Ms. Johnson spoke with Claudia Jordan on her show Fox Soul series Out Loud back in 2019, where she discussed her own relationship goals. She discussed no longer dating American men because she feels like they only “kick it.” Instead, she prefers African men because they prefer to court her. She prefers to feel “chosen” over just “hanging out.” “African men commit. That difference alone took me from kicking it with somebody to chosen.”

In the past, she has been linked to Chad Ochocinco. The two went photographed going to eat in 2012, just a few weeks after his divorce from Evelyn Lozado. The duo sat side by side at Sunset Plaza. Johnson is 15 years Chad’s senior. She was also dating Michael Jae White for a time, although they kept their relationship very private.

She is currently “courting” a man from Ghana who she claims has been teaching her the importance of getting to know each other. Johnson has never been married but says she is open to the idea and hopes to wed one day.
