August Alsina Reveals Struggles Of Becoming A Dad & Mommy: I Don’t know Anything About Being A Parent or Where To Start

Life has come hard and fast for R&B singer August Alsina. The “Entanglements” singer recently expressed that he may be hanging up his music career. While fans continue to speculate his reasons for possible retirement, some are feeling that August Alsina may want to spend more time with the children that he now raises.

Outside of the drama that surrounds August Alsina pertaining to his “entanglement” with Jada Pinkett-Smith, the singer battles an autoimmune disease. Alsina’s life also changed when sadly, tragedy struck his family after his sister passed away on Christmas Day in 2018 after battling cancer.

The tragic passing of August Alsina’s sister, Chandra, left behind three daughters: Chaylin, Amaiya, and Kayden, then 14, 13, and 12, respectively. The girls previously lost their father to gun violence in 2010, according to PEOPLE. August also mentioned this in a touching tribute to his departed sister on Instagram.

It was also on Instagram that August revealed Chandra’s wishes for him to “guard and raise” her children when she passes. ” I promise you I don’t even know where to begin,” said Alsina. “I am at a lost & am desperately craving and crazing to be found, so please send some signs, help us out.”

With his nieces now orphaned, August Alsina took on the responsiblity as their legal guardian. Revealing that he was scared, he went on to “Ask God to expand my capacity because right now I’m maxed out. Lord knows I’m still raising myself but I guess it’s officially official,” he said.

August Alsina then dropped the bombshell to his followers that he is now the legal guardian to his three nieces. “I’m a DAD now & I have 3daughters, & i don’t know the slightest thing about it or where to start but unfortunately I/we know loss too well,” the singer confessed. He also revealed his nieces call him ‘dommy’ which is daddy and mommy put together.

August went into detail with PEOPLE about the time Chandra made the big ask for him to be their guardian. “As she was making plans to leave this earth, she texted me, ‘All this time you’ve been running from being a parent, from having kids, and now you’re forced to,” recalled Alsina. “I’m like, ‘I just play the cards that life deals me, and I’ll figure everything out.’ She said, ‘You always do.’ And she went to sleep and that was that.”

Even though August was walking into a new era of life with three beautiful girls to now take care of, he expressed that he was “excited” about the journey. “They are beautiful kids with beautiful energy,” shared August. “I’m excited to see life unfold for them, and I want to be as present as I possibly can within their life while still being able to show them what it looks like to have a career.” Alsina added, “I’m striving to be an example for my ‘naughters. And I want them to know and trust that they’re going to be alright here with or without me, or without any man, without any woman, without any parent.”
