Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin have been together for almost 20 years. In the time since, they’ve shared much of their relationship with the world through Love & Hip-Hop. This includes two separate engagements and a lot of questions about if and when they would walk down the aisle. Unfortunately, that has yet to happen for them. After years of waiting for Jim Jones to get on one knee, Chrissy decided to take matters into her own hands and propose to her longtime boyfriend. Despite accepting her proposal, Jim Jones did not commit to marriage.
Chrissy told the ladies of The Real a few years ago that she has accepted that marriage is not part of their journey. Chrissy realized that maybe she was internalizing other people’s expectations of what she and Jimmy should do instead of following her heart. Jones recently gave a similar explanation, stating that he and Chrissy are very happy and do not feel the need to rush to the alter anytime soon.
However, in a recent episode of Love & Hip-Hop, Chrissy reveals that they are not on the best terms. While having drinks on a boat in Miami, Chrissy explains to Jones that he has been mean and distant, and she is not sure how much more she can take. An emotional Jimmy began crying and explaining that he only knows how to work and focus on work but that Chrissy is the love of his life. Chrissy tells him she no longer wants to marry him because the relationship is uneven. “I just know I been putting you through a lot,” Jones says as he tears up.
Despite telling Jim the things she would need to want to marry him, Jones jumps straight to, “so where would you want to get married at?” Chrissy gets visibly confused and tells him that he is skipping steps. “I don’t know what’s gotten into me,” he proclaims. Chrissy explains to him that he needs to actually show his progress before she can accept marrying him.
The duo begins to get heated as Chrissy calls his advance a “pity party” and tells Jones he is “all over the place” with his emotions and not really considering her feelings. The disagreement shows clear signs that the duo still needs a lot of work. Fans in the comments agreed. “I can’t with the guilt trip lmaooooo,” said one person. “Whew, the gaslighting and the deflection of it all 🥴,” says another person.
Several people used the term gaslighting, which means “manipulate (someone) by psychological means into questioning their own sanity.” Another fan summed up the whole exchange with, “It’s been what, 20+ years since they been together? She’s so beautiful she deserves to be a wife to a man that’s sure about her every single day.”
While Chrissy has declined marriage at the moment, the reality star does not plan on leaving Jim Jones. The couple recently celebrated 18 years together. When Jim Jones was asked about marriage in the near future during a recent interview the rapper stated, “We happy where we at, and not saying that marriage is not in the near future […] but those are our plans.”
Do you think Jimmy was gaslighting or finally giving her the route to marriage she’s been asking for?
