Tiffany Haddish is opening up about her relationship with fellow actor and rapper Common. The unlikely pair have been linked for awhile now, speaking here and there about their love and some of the things they’ve experienced together. Most recently the Girl’s Trip star revealed she had no planned on being with another celebrity and how he “grew on” her.
Common spoke about Haddish over the summer during an interview with the Today Show. The Chicago MC is actually known for a couple high profile relationships in his past, but it seems like when it comes to Haddish he is more smitten than ever. “She’s just a wonderful human being and has so much heart,” he said in the shows 3rd hour segment. “I’m learning to be in a relationship even more, what that entails, like growing within myself.” He called her a “queen” and gushed about her and how much respect he has for her. “The joy that she brings as a comedian and as a person is inspiring me to bring more joy to people through music.”
Tiffany Haddish and Common only went public this past summer. Common is 49 and Haddish is 41. They met while filming WB’s The Kitchen back in 2019. The pair did a virtual date last year as part of a promotional campaign with Bumble back. During the date, the couple appeared to have an obvious chemistry as they laughed and danced together, exchanged compliments and ordered food for some of the front line workers. He even had flowers delivered to her door.
Haddish has since applauded Common and stated that her relationship with the rapper is the healthiest relationship she has ever experienced. “I’ve lost 20 pounds since I’ve been in this relationship,” she said. “I feel more confident in me, and it’s not him that’s doing it. It’s like, I guess (I’m) way happier, and it’s like knowing that I’ve got someone that cares about me that really has my back.” Things have obviously gotten serious since then as Haddish has even fielded questions about proposals and marriage. The comedian has stated that instead of an engagement ring she would prefer that he purchased her property or something that can appreciate in value. She’s also opened up about adopting or fostering older children.
Today Tiffany Haddish spoke with Jemele Hill about her boyfriend, Common and their different sense of humors. “He allows me to be myself” she says. “Even if he can’t tell if something is a joke or not” she followed up with a laugh. She confesses that he was not immediately her type and that she had no plans on dating someone famous. However she says “he showed me different” and “he grew on me.” She jokes that he likes to watch ESPN when they hang out and that she gives him a hard time for watching “old men talk about a game that they don’t get to play no more.” “We have real conversations about things” she tells Hill, recalling past relationships when a man would blow up on her for bringing up things they did not want to talk about. She feels they can have real discussions and opens up about how happy she is.
