Several families are in mourning today following the Los Angeles incident that claimed the lives of six innocent people. A pregnant mother, her child, and four others perished on contact after being car was struck by an ICU worker going over 90mphs. Families of the victims and a mother who survived the incident is speaking out. Immediately following the video going viral, Asherey Ryan’s family launched a gofundme campaign that has now exceeded their initial goal.
Nicole L. Linton was the driver involved in the crash. Linton was reportedly going as fast as 90 mph and sped through a light at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson. Linton survived and is facing six counts. She stood in court on August 8th in a tearful display as it was revealed she could be spending up to 90 years behind bars if convicted.
Linton is a Texas nurse who was currently working in Los Angeles. It has not been confirmed if she was driving under the influence, but Linton was seen at the site wearing scrubs, so she was possibly heading to or from work. The Daily Mail reports, “[Linton] was released from the hospital Sunday and is now held at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California on a $9 million bond.”
As for the victims, Asherey Ryan was the driver of the vehicle. The 23 year old pregnant mother and her son Alonzo Quintero lives were taken along her unborn child’s father, Reynold. In a GoFundMe posted by Ryan’s sister Shaseana KerrShaseana Kerr, she asked for help laying her loved ones to rest and support for their mother, Sharita Randleston, who was struggling to make funeral arrangements. In the fundraiser description, she said, “I am organizing this fundraiser for our mother Sharita Randleston to help her pay for funeral expenses because they did not have insurance, so any donations help. Please let the family mourn in peace.”
Shaseana Kerr took to her Instagram with a video message, letting fans know how her and her family are coping and their plans on getting justice for Asherey and the other passengers. “We’re looking for legal representation because this doesn’t make any sense,” Seana said after reviewing videos of the crash. “Her taking my sister, my nephew, my brother-in-law, she took my son’s only cousin. We’re deeply hurt. We have to bury four people,” she added, including the unborn child.

Their family has received a great deal of support and well wishes from people all over the internet. 816 people donated to help them exceed their GoFundMe target of 100k. They’ve managed to raise a total of $155,571 in only three days. Their top donation was an anonymous one for $5k, while a Jo-Issa Diop (birth name of Issa Rae) donated $2500.
