Family Surrenders 13-Year-Old Boy Wanted For Taking The Life Of 20-Year-Old Man, Now Being Charged As An Adult

A 13-year-old boy was turned over to authorities this week in connection to passing of 20-year-old man in April.

The shocking story finds the young man, Jayden Gunsby, at the center of media headlines to the confusion of many since oftentimes children’s identities are concealed in cases like this.

The incident that has landed Gunsby behind bars occurred on Easter Sunday. The LaGrange Police Department responded to a shooting, finding 20-year-old Davaris Lindsey laid out with multiple gunshot wounds. Lindsay would die from his injuries several days later. While it is unclear what the 13-year-olds motive was, he is said to not be the only suspect. Police also believe the incident had something to do with local gangs in the neighborhood. Gunsby’s family turned him in today, and he is reportedly being charged as an adult.

“Why am I able to see his identity?” asked one person online. According to Georgia state law, anyone who commits murder over the age of 13 is considered an adult, and their information can be given to the public. Local Lt. Mark Cavender clarified, “As long as they’re 13 years of age or older, they can be charged as an adult with one of these seven deadly sins.” Mark also revealed that they are encountering more and more criminals starting young.

“It’s becoming less and less rare today to encounter some of our younger youth that are becoming more and more involved in violent crime,” Mark told a local news outlet.
