More updates have emerged today on the GoFundMe account created by Shannon Amos for her father, actor John Amos. Shannon had the internet in a frenzy after it was revealed that the beloved television dad was in ICU following elder abuse from his handlers. John has since come forward and shut this down, listing Shannon as the real culprit.
TMZ reported today that the GoFundMe was officially shut down as per John’s request, and he will receive none of the funds raised on his behalf. John Amos and his son have posted several videos of him from the hospital. John has let fans know that he is ok and was just suffering from some fluid in his lower back that needed to be drained.
Meanwhile, his son had confirmed that sister Shannon had tried this before, calling authorities on him when he was the caretaker for their late mother as well. Shannon tried to “raise” money on her dad’s behalf to be able to hire lawyers to help him get justice. John has declined the funds, and TMZ shared a statement from GoFundMe on the matter.
The statement read, “Ensuring that donors’ intentions are honored is our top priority. However, upon being informed that Mr. Amos wished to decline the funds raised on his behalf, the GoFundMe was put under review by our Trust & Safety team and then removed from our platform.” Shannon had managed to raise $13000 from 300 people before it was shut down. Everyone’s money will be refunded.
Shannon has since gone radio silent on social media. Her brother KC continues to share updates on the case and taunts his sister with videos. He posted one on Father’s Day of himself picking up random pay phones while the song “Operator” by Jim Croce. The lyrics talk about someone trying to place a call while being riddled with regrets.
