It’s a whole new world for LaLa Anthony. Now that her marriage to Carmelo Anthony is over, she’s living life as a single woman. But after 11 years of marriage, LaLa is figuring out how to maneuver through life. She recently opened up to Angie Martinez on New York’s Power 105.1 about dating, and also revealed that she’s done with marriage. In June of 2021, LaLa filed for divorce from Carmelo Anthony, citing irreconcilable differences. This would not be the first time that the couple split. In 2017, LaLa reportedly split from Carmelo following rumors of cheating. The couple was able to work through their differences and reconcile, but it would not last for long.
TMZ reported that LaLa filed the divorce documents in New York. The estranged couple is said to be working through the divorce amicably.Since their split, LaLa has reportedly moved with her son to a new house in Brooklyn. Although it was “expensive”, the 41-year-old told Page Six that she is “loving and enjoying” her new place. “It has been really great,” LaLa said.
When it comes to dating, however, LaLa says that she has not started as of yet. Speaking with Angie Martinez, LaLa touched on the differences between the time she and her soon-to-be-ex-husband began to date versus now, where social media is present. “It’s crazy! So it’s like, I’m just trying to figure out what is my space in this new world of dating,” LaLa Anthony said. She also pointed out that men have not been putting in the necessary effort to court her. Dating, for her, has been comparable to the “Wild Wild West.”
As it pertains to love, LaLa’s stance was more on the stance of “F**k love”. The former TRL host recalled wearing rings on her fingers that spelled that phrase out until her therapist advised her to remove it as she was beginning to manifest that into her life. LaLa explained that due to the public humiliation from the cheating rumors and how everything played out, she began to harbor ill feelings toward love.”You do feel like that, and you see how people can become jaded,” she said. Lala shared that she can understand how one may feel as though love is not for them. What she does maintain is that she’s hopeful to remain positive.
However, what she’s clear on is feeling as though she can never walk down the aisle again and commit in the same traditional way. “Marriage,” she begins to confess, “I don’t think I could do that, ever again!” LaLa shares that in order for that to ever possibly happen would be for an undeniably amazing person to enter her life. But, she doubles down in her belief that she doesn’t see it in the cards for her future.
LaLa then reminds herself after coming to that revelation that she’s unaware of what God has in store for her. “I’m just living and taking care of my son [Kiyan], and whatever’s supposed to be will be,” she said. “I don’t try to put too much emphasis on it because you just start accepting anything… I don’t have the time to just have random energy and people around.
