The mother of one has been dominating headlines in recent months thanks to her continued work with the Starz network on properties like Power and Power Book II. Recently the actress booked the role of Markesha Taylor In BMF and has three additional projects currently in post production. However, last year the actress was faced with a horrific health scare that.

Lala Anthony has turned out to be quite the business woman. During the pandemic the former radio host, launched a hair-care line, Inala where she began selling the Power Potion to help women grow their hair. The idea started at her home during the pandemic when the former VJ was testing out rice water treatments for her hair. Earlier this year, Lala Anthony also launched her second collection with PrettyLingThing. With such a busy schedule, balancing new television shows, businesses, and dealing with a very public divorce from Carmelo Anthony, Lala Anthony contributed her health condition with stress.

During all the craziness going on in her life, many fans may not have noticed that Lala actually underwent a terrifying procedure recently when she had to have emergency open heart surgery. Lala Anthony says that she was diagnosed with premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) last June. The condition means that her heart was constantly racing at a pace faster than normal people.

Lala Anthony recalls feeling her heart racing “all the time,” but never thinking something was wrong with it because it was something she was used to. “I just thought, ‘Oh, you just feel your heart racing sometimes because you’re working too much, you haven’t slept, you’re stressed,'” she told Self Magazine last year. The actress says that after ignoring it for a while, the racing in her heart began to worsen. Her heart was having “about 25 percent more heartbeats over the course of the day than the average person.”

Eventually, she went to see her doctors, who prescribed her some medicine. Unfortunately, the meds only made things worst, and the following day, she went completely pale and passed out. They had to admit her immediately and perform emergency surgery. The actress had to be awakened several times during this so that the doctors could alert her to plans to speed up her heartbeat. They’d tell Lala,” ‘We’re going to speed your heart up now. Just take deep breaths.” “Those doctors were just so incredible. But it was a terrifying experience,” she recalls.

Lala Anthony says that she struggled with if she should go public about her ordeal but decided it was a good idea after some advice from her son. Lala realized that she could make others aware of how important it is to listen to their bodies. Despite the procedure being such a scary experience, Lala was able to return to work. The actress has since starred in various television projects such as The Chi and Nine Bullets with three additional projects currently in post-production. The actress recently sat with Charlamagne Tha God to discuss finding success in acting after starting in radio.
