Comedian Mike Epps has reason to celebrate this month. He and wife Kyra Epps have welcomed a baby boy. The exciting news was announced via her instagram account earlier today and fans could not be happier for the pair. Kyra Epps has the new mom glow and a warm smile in her latest post with their new bundle of joy nestled up against her chest. “Son, we prayed for you!!! You have officially rocked our world. Mama loves you so much” she said in the caption. The little guy is sleeping with head buried in mommy’s chest and sporting a blue beanie.
Mike and Kyra announced that they were expecting back in June. She posted a picture of her positive pregnancy test to Instagram saying “When we first found out we we’re pregnant with baby #2 my heart was so full! My first year of motherhood has been nothing short of amazing and it was important for me to give baby Indy a baby sister or brother that she could grow up with and be just as close like I was with my siblings.” Mike and Kyra already share a baby girl named Indiana who celebrated her 1st birthday back in March. They married back in June of 2019 in Newport Beach, California. While Kyra shows off their new baby boy on her Instagram, dad is making sure the bills stay paid over on his end.
Mike is busy out on the road right now with a number of exciting projects in the pipeline that he’s been teasing and promoting. His Netflix Series The Upshaws has been green-light for a season two. Back in June the Hollywood Reported announced that “the streaming giant has handed out a second-season renewal for the multicamera family comedy starring Wanda Sykes, Kim Fields and Mike Epps.” Unlike season one which was only 10 episodes, two will be 16 and released in two parts.
Netflix will also be the home of his next comedy special. Next month Mike will be filming it in Indianapolis’ historic Madam Walker Theatre. The show will be a special one for him because Indianapolis is his hometown. While speaking with their local news network FOX59 he acknowledge that this is his first time doing a special in his hometown and he wants to make it his best.
“You know what, I’ve done a lot of specials. I’ve done about 3 or 4 of them. Im getting to the age where i’m like ‘if I can’t give my art and my talent to my hometown I can’t do it no more'” He goes on to say “This is my tribute to my hometown. This one’s going to be the best one yet.”
The reception has been great so far. While he initially only had two shows scheduled for Indianapolis, the are already sold out. During the interview he announced plans to possibly add a third and fourth show. He also briefly talked about his new baby, joking that he’s keeping him off social media so that he can be a “humble baby”.
If you’re excited for his upcoming special, you don’t have to wait till it airs to see him in action. As previously mentioned he is on the road and has stops coming up in Ontario, CA, Cincinnati, OH, Grand Rapids, MI, Oakland, CA and San Antonio, TX.
