Reality Star Nene Leakes Is Focused On Her Right Now and Not Dating, Following Husband’s Passing

Reality star Nene Leakes is soldiering forward in the wake of her husband Gregg Leakes passing. The multi-hyphen media mogul has always been a busy woman, and this is no different now that she is adjusting to a new normal and trying to stay distracted. While she is making time for a lot of new projects, one thing Nene is not making time for is new love, at least not just yet.

In a video posted to her Instagram story on October 7th, Nene Leakes was all smiles as she addressed her fans. “Thank you to everybody,” she said with the text “Thanks Guyssss” displayed above her head. “And all the gentlemen that have been in my DMS, thank ya’ll too,” she said while giggling nervously. She then let out a flirtatious “Heyyyyy!” before letting any suitors know that right now she is focusing on herself. “I’m just over here just doing me right now. But anyways, hey, I love reading the messages. They are inspiring to say the least.”

Some fans felt uncomfortable with her addressing new men so quickly after Greggs’s passing. “Some men are just plain men lol . Let her have some time to process lawd!” said one person. Another chimed in with “Nene doing her right now these men need to let her be so she can enjoy life by herself first she will be fine.” While she gave the men a special shoutout in this particular video, in past videos, Nene has been sure to shout out the ladies holding her down too. In particular, she’s been sure to give love to Lauren London, who has been by her side during this tough time. London lost her husband, Nipsey Hussle, in 2018 and has been there for Nene with advice and kind words. She’s also thanked Tamar Braxton, T.I & Tiny, and several others in different videos.

Gregg Leakes passed on September 1st of this year after a long battle with cancer. He and Nene played out their love life super publicly during their time on Real Housewives of Atlanta. The pair even separated and remarried at one point before his passing. Nene always has a number of projects on the table and in the works and that has been keeping her busy and distracted. She did a farewell event for Gregg at the couples restaurant Linnethia Lounge. In a post from the event she told fans “”Please work wit me as i be having highs & lows! Trying to adjust to my new normal so i may not always be present in the moment.”

The celebration brought her and several of her former castmates together, showing solidarity amongst the women during such trying times for Nene. She manages the establishment with her son Brent, who actually celebrated a birthday recently. She also thanked superstar Cee-Lo Green in the same video for throwing him a birthday party at their Lounge. Back in April it was also rumored that Nene Leakes will be returning to television via the Zeuz Network. The independent app-based channel has become a place for former WETV, VH1 and Bravo reality stars. No word yet on if the show has begun filming or when it will drop.

This follows her most recent departure from Real Housewives at the end of 2020 after concluding the show’s 13th installment. Nene told fans at the time that it was time to move on. “I have been on an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation. There has been a lot of emotion flying on both sides. I’m just so happy that I can say that I was a part of a genre that opened doors for Black ensemble reality shows.” Whatever is next for Nene, it’s obvious she’s coming into it with a lot of positivity and peace, so gentlemen looking to court her will have to wait a bit longer for their shot.
