Nick Cannon does A LOT. The actor/comedian hosts several shows, including Wild N Out, The Nick Cannon Show, The Masked Singer, and more. He is also the father to many many children, with his 8th child due to arrive any day now. Cannon shows up for every check and delivers at every single job. So how does he do it? According to a recent interview, Cannon reveals that he’s able to do this because he only sleeps 2 to 3 hours a day.
While discussing his illustrious career, Cannon opened up to HipHopDX about how he finds the energy to juggle so many things. In addition to his several television jobs, Cannon also hosts Nick Cannon Mornings at Power 106 in Los Angeles. He’s also been known to work behind the scenes as a manager and had a heavy hand in helping acts like Kehlani, Amber Rose, and more find success.
He tells Hip-Hop DX, “I’ve never slept a lot. I’m one of those people who has always had that energy.” Cannon said he’s been this way since he was a kid at church and has worked hard throughout his life to learn how to properly harness his energy and develop time management. “I sleep 2 to 3 hours a night,” he says before declaring that his doctors are not too happy with him. Nick suffers from lupus and has to be incredibly cautious with his health, but according to him, he has done this since he was 16 years old.
Fans of Cannon will remember that he was introduced to the world as a child actor on Nickelodeon and starred in several series, including All That and The Nick Cannon Show. From there, he ventured off into films and music and became a mainstay over on MTV, where he also doubled as a host and personality before creating Wild N Out for the network.
Cannon credits his team for being super helpful and aiding him in run his multiple businesses. Cannon says he mostly has 20 hrs days but makes sure to sleep 16 hours a day at least once a week to make up for it. He’s showing no signs of slowing down either. His talk show is doing incredibly well, and Nick is getting the extra benefit of his strongest competition Wendy Williams being out sick for much of her current season. In addition to this, he is currently raising seven kids.
Cannon is also prepping his return to music and dropped two singles this month to coincide with Valentine’s holiday, “Alone” and “Weekend Girl”. Nick says the single will be followed by a full-length R&B album titled Raw N B The Explicit Tape which is dropping later this month. He calls it “gospel for the broken soul.” They are a departure from his more popular music and primarily feature him singing instead of rapping. Now that he is adding an R&B singer to his plate, what else do we think Cannon will add to his resume in 2022?
