Nick Cannon might have a Superman-inspired logo and be growing his family faster than the speed of light, but he is very much human. The television mogul has always kept fans updated on his journey with lupus and how it has impacted his health. His latest update has many concerned, but Cannon assures them that he is a fighter and will be back on his feet in no time.
Nick Cannon was first diagnosed with lupus kidney disease in January of 2012, also called lupus nephritis. He had been experiencing symptoms of fatigue and swelling in his knees during a New Year’s trip to Aspen. In the time since, he’s been one of the most public faces of the illness and has taken fans on a journey as he’s been in and out of the hospital over the years. At one point, Nick said that his lupus was a catalyst for him wanting to have such a large family. He felt like he wanted to live life on the edge because he never knew when his last day would be.
While some criticized him for this, others have supported his choices and championed how he seems so present for his family.Unfortunately, Nick is being reminded just how mortal he is with his latest trip to the hospital. Posting from a hospital bed, he shared a selfie of him hooked up to machines with the caption, “Okay, so I guess I’m not Superman… I promised myself I would never be back at this place again.”
He said that he has pneumonia but encouraged fans not to trip, “I don’t need any well wishes or prayers, just some solid rest, and I will be back on the journey to becoming stronger than ever.” He had just performed a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden with his Wild N’ Out cast the evening before. Fans in the comments sent him love saying, “Never say you don’t need prayers…we ALL need prayers,” while one person joked, “Make sure you don’t get the nurses pregnant.” One person some up the jokes and well wishes nicely, saying, “Don’t worry, you will be back on your feet with another baby on the way in no time.”
