Offset Says He Needs Strength: “I Don’t Want Question It, But I Don’t Understand”

It has been a trying time in Hip-Hop recently with all of the loss that is, unfortunately, plaguing the community. On November 11th, 20,000 fans, family members, friends, loved ones, and supporters gathered together to celebrate the life of Kirsnick Khari Ball, professionally known to the world as Takeoff.

Unfortunately, the Migos rapper’s life was cut short on November 1st in Houston following an altercation gone wrong that he was reportedly not involved in. At the time of his passing, Takeoff, Quavo, and fellow Migos rapper Offset were reportedly not seeing eye to eye. Now that he is no longer here, everyone has been concerned with how Offset has taken the news. Following the news, both Offset and his wife remained silent until the funeral. A video clip from the service has now revealed his emotions.

Short video clips have taken over social media, providing those fans not in attendance a glimpse inside the celebration of life held at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. Among tributes and appearances from Takeoff’s family and close collaborators, including his mother, Quavo, and the co-founders of Migos’s label “Quality Control Music,” was an emotional one from fellow Migos member Offset.

According to a report from Rolling Stone, Offset could barely emit a word passed Takeoff’s name at first. The report claims that the “Clout” rapper expressed his deep love for his slain cousin, then uttered the words, “I’m sorry.” More videos from those in attendance show Offset in tears, perhaps still in disbelief, as he struggles to complete his tribute. He then credits Takeoff for “changing music” with his flow as audience members cheer him on, one audibly reminding him of their high school days.

Offset then beseeched God for “strength” to cope with the loss for himself and their families. The rapper then confessed that while he did not want to “question God,” he still did not understand why Takeoff’s life was taken away. “But, I believe in You, Father,” he shared as the video concluded. Another video courtesy of TMZ shows the rapper standing outside by a vehicle following the service as he’s being consoled by those around him.
