Rapper Da Brat is getting ready to be a mommy. The notoriously private ’90s hip-hop staple has been opening up her life in recent years and letting fans in. From confirming her long-rumored sexuality to now sharing with fans that she has plans to have a baby. Da Brat and fiance Jesseca Dupart took to social media to share the good news with a snap of the beaming moms-to-be hugging and showing off Dupart’s growing belly.
In the post on Dupart’s page, she announced, “We are EXTENDING the family🤰🏽.” Dupart stands front and center in an Ivy Park outfit while Brat poses behind her holding her tummy. Da Brat shared the same image and caption but included two additional photos showing the happy couple making a heart symbol with their hands on her own page. Da Brat has been open in recent years about her fears of being openly bisexual in the entertainment industry. She referenced Ellen’s ’90s sitcom being canceled after the comedian came out as a cause for concern to her and other artists like herself.
Luckily when Dupart came into Brat’s life, it inspired her to live free following years of hiding. The engaged couple announced their relationship a while back and have been wasted no time sharing their love with the world. Dupart also goes by Judy and is the CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products.
In a post from March of 2020, Da Brat gushed about her partner and expressed how Dupart has made life easier for her. “Never have I EVER. Needless to say… I’ve always been a kind of private person until I met my heart’s match who handles some things differently than I do.” She went on to say, “It’s so overwhelming that often I find myself in a daze hoping to never get pinched to see if it’s real so I can live in this dream forever.”
The good news comes just days before the pair are set to tie the knot. The couple settled on 2/2/22 to get married, a date Dupart felt DaBrat was not serious about initially. To prove she was serious, Brat tatted the date on her back. While guesting on the Wendy Williams show last year, she told guest judge Sherri Shepard that she wanted to show her wife to be she was serious and committed.
DaBrat has been ready for kids for a minute now. During an episode of Dish Nation from July of 2020, she talked about wanting to name her baby Legacy Shawntee Dupart. She said the name is significant because it is her first name and her partner’s last name. Brat said she’d want their daughter to carry on their legacy. No word on if this name would also apply to a boy.
During an interview with Tamron Hall in 2021, DaBrat admitted to all this change in her life being a journey. “It’s been so many years, and I kept my private life sacred.” DaBrat’s fans have been pouring love into the pregnant couple via their comments sections. “Omggggg CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m so happy for you both❤️,” said one fan. “Ooooooooo eeeeemmmmmGeeeeeeeeeee🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰. I love it!!!!! So amazing!” said Yandy Smith.
