Rapper Snoop Dogg Mother, Beverly Tate Passes Away At 70: “If You Have A Mother Hug Her Tight”

Rapper Snoop Dogg is saying goodbye to his mother this week. The west coast legend took to social media to let fans know that his mother passed away. The sad news has triggered an outpouring of support from friends, family, and fans who have gotten so much love and joy from Snoop over the years.

“Thank u God for giving me an angel 🕊 for a mother 💖🙏🏽🌹💝 TWMA.” he captioned a photo of his mother smiling and holding flowers. In another post Snoop and his mom are all smiles while his record “I Love My Momma” plays over the post. The lyrics say, “For the nine months you carried, I hope you bury me/instead of the other way around, and I put that on Dogg Pound/I made you cry, you made me smile/I just want to say I love you for life and that’s the reason why I’m here now/Love, Snoop.”

Beverly Broadus Green was an author and evangelist who was born Beverly Tate in McComb, Mississippi, in 1951. Beverly’s books include 2012’s Real Love, and 2014’s Real Love II: The Story of an Extraordinary Woman. She was the mother of Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr, and three other boys. Beverly was a lifelong resident of Long Beach, California and spent over 40 years as a church choir director. She was married to Howard Green before his passing in 2005 and was a head chef before retiring.

Back in May, Snoop alerted fans that his mother was having some health issues. He posted the same image of her holding flowers and captioned it, “Sending special prayers out for my mom this morning y’all pray for her and me.” In a separate post, he thanked his fans and said, “Thank y’all for all your prayers,” he said in a brief video update. “Gotta stay strong, keep pushing on,” he continued. “They say God don’t put nothing on your shoulders you can’t handle. I’m being tested right now, ya’ll. Make sure ya’ll pray for me and my family.”

Following this post, he updated fans with an image from the hospital during a visit. “Happy Sunday. Me and my brothers went to c mama today and she opened up her eyes to c us and let us know she still fighting,” he said. “God is good💕🙏🏾 thanks for all the prayers 1 day at a time.” While Snoop and his family have not revealed why his mother was hospitalized or her cause of death, they did confirm that she passed on October 24th. In a black and white photo of himself, Snoop said in the caption, “Walk by faith not by sight 🌹smile snoopy that’s what U would say when it was time to take a picture 💖🙏🏽 🌹 TWMA💖💝.” He used TWMA in several posts, which means “Till We Meet Again.” Taraji P. Henson, Da Brat, Juicy J, and others flooded his posts with well wishes and condolences.

During The Rickey Smiley Show, Da Brat revealed she has spoken to Snoop Dogg and was touched by his world. According to the Rapper, Snoop Dogg told her to tell fans, “If you do have a mother, hug her tight all the time. Tell her you love her cause a mother is a precious thing.
