Reality Star Nene Leakes Says Gregg Leakes Asked Her To Move On With Her Life In His Last Moments

Nene Leakes is adjusting to her new normal now that her husband Gregg Leakes has been laid to rest. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star has been keeping busy working on finding balance without her partner in crime. She recently opened up about their final days together and the things he asked her to do following his death.

Leakes took to social media recently to tell fans that she had good days and bad days and is pushing through. “I have a whole group of people that’s coming to my house every day doing different stuff with me. Trying to keep my mind off him”. She goes on to say that it’s normal, and some days she up and some she’s down. She flaunted a brighter hair color, saying it’s a part of her new life, “new normal.” She said while she usually has a hairstylist come to her home, she actually opted to go in that day and be with other women.

Gregg passed away on September 1st; he was 66 years old. He had a long battle with colon cancer. Nene says his final days were beautiful and that the two of them talked a lot and found a lot of peace in those moments. “The last five days before his passing was really beautiful,” she says. “All of his children were there. His best friends were there. Our closest friends were there. We all sat with him around the clock.”

Another woman very familiar with grief who is helping Nene figure it out is Lauren London. The actress loss her partner, Nipsey Hussle, and has become a figurehead for women dealing with loss in entertainment. During another Instagram video, the reality star thanked Lauren London for reaching out to her a lot and helping her “go through” this process. She also thanked her Real Housewives family, the cast of The Real, T.I, Tiny, and many others who have kept her in good spirits and checked on her during this difficult time. “Tiny is always super sweet, and thank you for all of your kind words.” She said the support continues to pour in from everyone. She thanked Tamar Braxton as well for always being “in her ear” with positivity, as well as gospel singer Yolanda Adams and fans for their love in her DMs.

Nene recently opened up with People about Gregg’s wishes for her following his passing, as well as the things he said to her. He promised that he would not leave her and that “God was going to bless her.” Nene goes on to say that he requested she move on with her life. She told him in his final days that she “wouldn’t have chosen another husband,” saying ‘I married you twice, crazy man,” while laughing. When Gregg took his final breath, Nene was at his side along with all their family and friends.
