Commitment can come in many shapes and forms. For some, it is the simple gesture of asking someone to be your partner. For others, it requires gifts, engagements, marriage, and more. In the social media era, though, the ultimate sign that you take someone seriously is going official on your app of choice. More relationships are made online than anywhere else, with many of them being measured by how often couples post to one another.
With the “social media official” comes the “social media splits” as well. Just as quickly as relationships are formed, many are over, with either party scrambling to scrub their accounts of all signs of their now exes. Lengthy captions asking for privacy, explaining why they split, or looking for sympathy from followers. Is it all really worth it? Actress Regina Hall has been in the public eye for over two decades. After being introduced to the world through The Best Man franchise, Hall went on to become the face of the Scary Movie series alongside Anna Faris. Hall’s career has been a string of successful and high-profile films ever since, with her most recent wins being Girls Trip, Little, and the upcoming Best Man television series. She also hosted this years Oscars.
Throughout it all, Regina Hall has been notoriously private about her personal life. We know she is from D.C and went to college in The Bronx and later NYU. Hall’s parents have been pivotal in her career. Her father’s sudden death during her senior year of college made her decide to shift into acting. Her mother’s battle with scleroderma has made her a strong activist against the disease, and she frequently volunteers and helps at senior homes. However, when it comes to her dating life, not much is known about Hall. She frequents her red carpets alone and does not talk about the men in her life. While some sites report that she has dated the likes of actor Chadwick Boseman, basketball star Aaron Afflalo, track star Felix Sanchez and author Hill Harper, she has never confirmed any of these relationships.
She has spoken about love in her career, just never about anyone specifically. This year while co-hosting the 2022 Oscars, Hall discussed how being in love makes her feel beautiful and how loving someone makes them more attractive to her. “A beautiful world comes from a beautiful heart; that’s probably the best way to be beautiful. I’ve dated some men that haven’t all been traditionally handsome, but then you fall in love, and you’re like, ‘They’re such a good human being.’ They actually get more beautiful.”
Regina Hall feels it is best to keep her relationships private until she knows for sure she is with the one. “I just feel like relationships are sacred until you’re in a space where you are really certain and knowing,” she said in 2020. “Until you see and know what that part of your life is, inviting the public in [is off limits].” Regina feels that people go public way too soon before really knowing if they’re with the right person. Hall feels it is all too special and needs to be kept private until a baby or ring presents itself.
