Rick Ross Explains Liabilities Versus Assets

Rick Ross is working over time this year rebranding himself as a powerhouse mogul. He put out a book earlier in 2021 detailing the inner workings of his empire. He also went viral for his Wing Stop commercials showing off his impressive collection of cars. Now he is sitting down with Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings of #EarnYourLeisure fame to discuss his massive Atlanta home and how he runs his businesses.

Earn Your Leisure have become infamous with her slogan Assets over Liabilities. In the spirit of their catchphrase, they asked Ross how he defines assets and liabilities. “Depending on the role you play and who you are, what’s a liability for one brother could be an asset for another.” The rapper continued “Let’s say me owning a private jet, 15 passenger. Let’s say if it was 5.5 million dollars, for one individual that could be a liability.” He elaborates, “but the position i’m in it could be an asset. And not just based on the money I get off my salary but the individuals that surround me that I know would also lease this jet when I’m not using it. You know what I mean.”

Rick Ross explains how your liability could be an asset as well. “So its money we could get that would take off the maintenance, the pilot, the steward, everybody based on letting, you know, another dude or two make a move once or twice a month.” The EarnYourLeisure hosts followed up with the rapper discussing how he purchased a home in foreclosure and made someone else’s liability his asset, since the home was owned by JP Morgan.

The home in question is Ross’ 235 acre mansion, one that he extended an additional 18 acres over the years. The mansion has 12 bedrooms, 21 bathrooms and the largest residential swimming pool in the United States of America. The rapper explained how he purchased the home from Evander Holyfield, who had purchased it from Smokey and The Bandit. Holyfield made 25 million dollars worth of renovations while living there.

Eventually the home went up for auction, with Ross managing to purchase the 7 million dollar pad for 5.8 million. He talks about how his mother and sister handle his finances, so he had them call to secure the purchase of the house. Eddie Murphy shot parts of Coming 2 America there. During the podcast, Rick Ross also revealed how he purchased a one million dollar home in Atlanta after he got his record deal just to drive past it everyday when he’s in the city. “After I got my deal and my situation, I brought a million dollar home maybe two minutes from here that I still own, that’s right around the corner.. Just so I can ride by it everyday while I’m in Atlanta.” Ross also went viral over the summer for gifting his 16 year old son a Wing Stop location.
