The Jeffrey Dahmer story on Netflix has reopened many topics of discussion and reopened many old wounds. But one aspect of the show is being praised by fans and critics alike, and that’s the lead actor’s portrayal of the role. However, some fans are noting the differences in how he is being uplifted as opposed to P-Valley’s J. Alphonse Nicholson, whose character on-and-off television screens has been questioned.
Jeffrey Dahmer and the character “Lil Murda” on P-Valley only share one thing in common: their sexuality. Outside of that, both lead incredibly different lives. However, the actors tasked with bringing their stories to life have the people talking due to their level of commitment and brilliant depictions. In real life, actors Evan Peters (who portrayed the lead in Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) and J. Alphonse Nicholson are straight men. The P-Valley star is married to Nafeesha Nicholson, who he’s dated for many years before walking down the aisle. In addition, Peters has dated high-profile stars from actress Emma Roberts to pop star, Halsey.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Evan Peters has played an LGBTQ role. In addition to his depiction of Jeffrey Dahmer, the actor has done work in different seasons of the American Horror Story anthology series, along with Pose, where he has played gay characters. With Evan Peters being lauded for his latest role, many on Twitter note the differences in the reception he’s receiving versus J. Alphonse Nicholson for “Lil Murda.” Nicholson was also widely praised, but frequently, the character faced criticism. Many fans have noted how some on social media are choosy with their criticism and are now speaking out in Lil Murda’s defense.
