Tami Roman Gives Update On Her Plans To Have Baby At 51

Tami Roman is getting real about her marriage. Things have been getting increasingly busy for the 51-year old reality star and television personality since her 1993 debut on TV. And now a married woman, Roman and her husband Reggie Youngblood were thinking of having children. But a recent sit-down conversation with the ladies of The Real revealed that Tami Roman might have given her husband somewhat of a hall pass to have a baby with another woman.

Tami Roman and Reggie Youngblood, whom she is significantly older than, were married in a secret Las Vegas wedding in August of 2018. She was previously married to Kenny Anderson from 1994 until 2001 and shares two daughters with her ex-husband named Lyric and Jazz. Within her new marriage to Reggie Youngblood, the couple has discussed having children, as he has none.

In 2020, Tami Roman conversed with Keyshia Cole on her Fox Soul talk show to reveal that they were considering a surrogate to carry a child for them and that although they have tried three times already, the pregnancy did not go full term. “We, unfortunately, suffered three miscarriages,” said Roman. “And, you know, now we’re considering a surrogate. You know, something like that.” Various health problems, as well as her age, have possibly played a role in the matter. Tami Roman then shared that it was singer/songwriter and reality star Kandi Burruss’s surrogacy journey that inspired her to consider it. “I said, ‘Oh okay chile, that’s what we doing now?’ So we got the eggs and we harvested those and now we’re looking for a person to carry,” Tami Roman expressed at the time.

Months later, she went on the Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast where she stated that she would love to naturally conceive a child with her husband. She also revealed that she had been taking steps to further the process. “We gave it our best shot and now we got the eggs on ice,” Roman shared. “And we’re gonna, you know, have someone else. But you know, you gotta be ready. You gotta be ready.”

But while on The Real recently, Tami gave a different approach when asked about her surrogacy journey. According to Roman, the journey is currently “on pause.” “I feel like I’m at a point where my career is starting to do and reward me for all of the time and my efforts that I’ve been in this business,” the former Basketball Wives star began, “and a baby for me right now would just be the thing to do.” What Roman said next shocked the co-hosts. “So what I offered him was an opportunity for us to take a break for a year or two and let him go find someone to have a child with,” she claimed. “And then when he has his baby, we could get back together.”

After hosts Garcelle Beauvais and Adrienne Houghton inquired as to whether she genuinely be ok with this and help raise the child, Roman stated that she would definitely be present for that. What she does not want is the experience of having the child anymore, or “get my eggs.” Her reason is so that Youngblood can continue his “legacy” as he is an only child and does not have any children to carry on his name. “So, it’s really more for him than it is for me,” Roman insisted.

Co-parenting, according to Roman, is something that she believes in and would like to practice if that situation were to come up for the couple. And while she would give her husband the permission to seek this mission for a year, she would not step out of the marriage. “I am a one-p*n*s woman,” declared Tami Roman.

Also, just because her husband is allotted this year timespan to plant his seed, the rule is he would only be allowed, one woman. Tami Roman says that her husband is not given free rein to sow his royal oats everywhere. However, Roman revealed that her husband does not want that arrangement at all. Reggie Youngblood’s response to her proposition was, “I fell in love with you. You’re the woman I’m going to spend the rest of my life with, and if God put me here and I’m not supposed to have children, then that’s what it is.”Tami Roman then expressed her feelings towards his response, stating that it was both a “blessing and a curse” because she realized his true love for her and her own selfishness.
