Shanquella Robinson’s Family One Step Closer To Justice

For weeks, Shanquella Robinson’s parents have demanded answers relating to the unexpected passing of their daughter and what happened to her during a trip to Cabo San Lucas. Social media users from all over have come together with the family demanding answers and ensuring Shanquella’s family receives justice. Well, it looks like justice is around the corner, as a warrant has been issued.

According to WBTV, Mexican authorities have issued a warrant for Shanquella Robinson’s friend, who authorities identify as the person responsible for her passing. Shanquella Robinson arrived in Cabo San Lucas on October 28th with friends. However, her life was taken the next day. Despite friends trying to cover up the incident, citing ‘alcohol poisoning’ as the culprit – a video later surfaced showing a woman being physical with Shanquella Robinson.

According to the most recent report, Shanquella was alive when medical professionals arrived and received support for hours before passing. Friends of Shanquella were urged to take the 25-year-old to the hospital but declined and insisted she remains at the Villa. According to the medical professional, Shanquella was intoxicated and dehydrated upon arrival.  This latest development conflicts with the original report, which stated Shanquella was pronounced deceased within 15 minutes of the medical professionals’ arrival. The autospy reported the young woman’s cause of passing was a severe spinal cord injury and dislocated neck.

Following Shanquella Robinson’s passing, a GoFundMe Account was created for her family. To date the campaign has over 5700 donations and has raised over $370,000, which is $20,000 more than the requested amount. In addition, Kyrie Irving went viral earlier this week for donating $65,000.  ABC News contacted Shanquella’s mother, Sallamondra Robinson, and informed her of the arrest warrant. After hearing this latest development, Sallamondra Robinson stated, “I feel so good, that’s a good […] That’s what we have been waiting for, for someone to finally be held accountable and arrested. I just can’t wait for justice to be served.”

Social media has played a huge part in this case. Shanquella Robinson’s mother was certain she would receive justice and credits social media users for helping. Following the news, social media influencer and activist, Tamika Mallory took to Instagram to celebrate the update. ” A step in the right direction. People need to start talking,” the activist stated. Tamika Mallory has been covering this case from the very beginning. Last week, the activist shared the #JusticeForShanquella hashtag and asked followers to tag the mainstream media and get them involved. She has also provided followers with action steps to get involved.

Despite the good news, many social media users can’t believe only one person is being held accountable. Now that the warrant has been issued, some think it’s only a matter of time before the ‘friend’ begins talking and more people are brought to justice. There was a total of six friends on the trip with Shanquella Robinson.

Shanquella Robinson funeral was held on October 29th. She was only 25-years-old. We’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
