Actress Vivica A. Fox is always an open book when it comes to her experience in the Hollywood Machine. She has kept a busy slate of projects over her 30-year career, but people to seem to be just as fixated on her personal life as they are on her work. Most notably, a relationship with the mid-’00s with rapper turned television mogul 50 Cent. In the years since, the two have exchanged a lot of words towards each other and even some digs on social media. She recently opened up about it further while speaking with Jemele Hill.
Hill and Fox discussed a wide range of topics during their discussion. The fun and candid talk found Fox in her usual element, keeping it real and fun while sharing stories about her career. Hill pointed out that Fox’s personal life is often spotlighted over her work, in particular her relationship with 50 Cent. While Fox laughed it off, she joked that people seem to only connect her to 50 and seem to assume she’s never been in any other relationships. After joking about “dropping names,” she teased that she would save her other famous beaus for an eventual book. Instead, she told Hill that she has no future plans to date a man in the limelight. “Have no desire to date someone in show business.” she said, followed by “absolutely not” and a “hell no” thrown in for good measure.
50 Cent and Vivica A. Fox famously dated way back in 2003. The pair walked the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards that year in matching blue outfits. They initially connected after 50 Cent flirted with Fox while accepting an award at the Soul Train Awards. “We met after he said the thing at the Soul Train Music Awards. ‘And I want to thank Vivica Fox for wearing that dress,'” Fox said about their first introduction. “I was shocked. I was just kinda like, wow. And then after that, his people got in touch with my people and next thing I know, we were on the phone and my birthday was coming up, and he’s such a gentleman. He’s very generous. I know him as Curtis, always will, and the 50 Cent. Those are his performing things and who he is as a man. So, I met Curtis.”
Vivica has always been very candid about her time with 50. She’s even called him “the love of her life” in several interviews. During a discussion with Vladtv, she said it again, claiming he was the “one that got away”. His current girlfriend, Cuban Link, took issue with this statement around the time the interview came out and took to her social media to let Vivica know 50 Cent is a taken man now. She commented “aww” under a repost of the interview before tweeting, “it’s giving menopause.”
This was not the first time their 2003 fling has made for some messy social media exchanges. Back in 2005 Fox did an interview with Tyra Banks’ Talk Show. At the time, 50 Cent was telling people he felt like Vivica had used him as a publicity stunt or as a way to boost her career. “No, it wasn’t the press…it was him!” she told Banks in reference to the accusations. She continued, “I just considered that ghetto love,” before adding, “It was his way of dealing with the break-up.”
