Wayne Brady is a beloved American television personality for a lot of reasons. He’s super talented, incredibly funny, and just a joy to have on your screen. The daytime host is adding a new reason for people to love him. He recently announced that he would be helping his ex-wife and her new partner raise their baby boy Sunny.
Hey y’all, meet Sunny! I love this little man already. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and they’re right!” he captioned the clip. In it, a smiling Wayne can be seen holding a newborn. He goes on to tag his ex-wife Mandie Taketa and her new man Jason Michael Fordham. As he explains it in the caption, both Mandie and Jason were incredibly instrumental in the upbringing of his biological daughter Malie Brady. Now it is his turn to return the favor by helping them raise their boy.
He goes on to say in the caption, “I’m honored to be in his life as his “Duncle” and I love Mandie and Jason for including me in their journey.” “Duncle,” as he elaborates in the video, means Daddy-Uncle. Brady has researched a few posts from Mandie about the newborn but wanted to let fans know more about the baby and the role he’d be playing in his life.
The remarkable family dynamic has the internet showing Brady and his tribe a lot of love. It’s rare to see a couple split but still be so willing to co-parent, especially with kids conceived after the split. Wayne Brady and Mandie Taketa met while Brady was working in Hawaii in the mid-’90s. Then he was relatively unknown still. They eventually tied the knot in 1999 and welcomed their daughter Malie in 2003. Prior to Mandie, Wayne was married once before.
Wayne Brady and ex-wife, Mandie split in 2008. The pair have remained good friends over the years while raising their daughter. Some say their relationship seems more like siblings than ex-lovers. This is something that is very unusual in Hollywood and in real-life where many custody battles turn nasty. How many of you remember Halle Berry’s battle with former partner, Gabriel Aubry. The two were together five years and had one daughter. The custody battle ended in Halle Berry being forced to pay $16,000 a month in child support, which she calls ‘extortion.”
Tyrese and his ex-wife, Norma Gibson also had a tumultuous divorce and custody battle. The couple wedded in 2007 and divorced two years later. While Tyrese requested primary custody of daughter, Shayla the courts eventually went in Norma’s favor. Angelina Joie and Brad Pitt was probably the most talked about divorce, which also turned ugly – ending in a big win for Angelina Jolie. These are just a few divorce battles that have made headlines, but were glad, Wayne Brady and his ex-wife have mastered co-parenting and remaining friends after divorce which Brady attributes to many year of tears and therapy.
