The show Empire was a television phenomenon that came and went very quickly. The FOX series helped affirm the star power of Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard while creating new stars out of Jussie Smollett, Serayah McNeill, and Bryshere Y. Gray. One of the show’s most endearing legacies is the relationship between Trai And Grace Byers. The pair met on the set of the hit series in 2015 and quickly became goals for many. Grace was actually in a relationship when they met, and the two had no idea they would hit off the way they did.
Grace opened up about how she had plans to marry her previous partner but noted there was no spiritual connection present. Instead, she found herself feeling a bond with Trai that was hard to deny. Trai was having a similar experience and claimed he woke up one day out of his sleep and knew Grace was his wife. The rest has been history for the pair.
Since Empire wrapped, they’ve been working on their individual “empires” and making great strides in both their professional and personal endeavors. Grace is a published author and has a series of books about children and confidence, including the New York Times Best-Seller and 2018 Goodreads Choice Awards Picture Book winner, I Am Enough. Her site highlights her other acting work outside of Empire, including Marvel’s The Gifted, BET’s Tales, and Bobby Moresco’s Bent.
Trai made his broadway debut this past week in the play The Piano Lesson. Trai was an understudy for the play while studying drama in Yale so the role was a “homecoming for him.” His opening night was October 13th, and his wife stepped out on the red carpet to support him and unveil their latest project together. “Happy Opening Night on your Broadway Debut, my beloved King!! 🖤👑🎭😍🌟” Grace said, posing next to her husband and hugging her baby bump.
Fans jumped in the comments to congratulate the new parents on their first child. “Congratulations, my friends! Careers are blossoming, and families expanding. How lovely it is to see you both glow,” said one fan. Check out their pictures.
