Daughter Willow Smith, who is following in her mother’s footsteps, is now speaking up on behalf of her parents.
The famous actors were widely considered relationship and marriage goals for a large part of their union. As of late, however, that may not be the case. Once Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith began to share more and more of their private information, it became evident that all was not as perfect as it seemed.
Speculations surrounding whether or not the Smiths have an open marriage or not have continuously plagued their relationship. Finally, in late 2021, it was seemingly confirmed by Will Smith that their marriage is indeed an “unconventional” one. While he admitted they chose to be monogamous for the majority of their relationship, eventually, the Smiths brought more “trust and freedom” into the marriage. However, will Smith also expressed that he does not “suggest this road for anybody.”
Who could forget the infamous “entanglement” drama with R&B singer August Alsina? Social media was arrested by the information which seemed to force the couple to open up about their issues. Taking to Jada Pinkett Smith’s increasingly popular Red Table Talk, the couple expressed more of their marital problems that led the affair to commence. While on the topic of Red Table Talk, much of their business has been laid out for the world to hear on the platform. From the family expressing many intimate details of their lives to the couple speaking on their intimate lives.
Recently, Will Smith released his long-anticipated memoir, Will. In the book, the ‘King Richard’ actor shares many moments that some probably would have felt better not knowing in the book. For instance, Smith shared that he was cheated on by a girl he was dating early in his life, which caused him to react by being intimate with as many different women as possible. But the oversharing does not stop at just Will and Jada. For their children have had moments of divulging information to the world as well that many would deem awkward. For example, in the spirit of Red Table Talk, Willow revealed to her mother, grandmother, and the world that she is polyamorous. The young singer also stated that she began watching adult movies at 11-years-old.
With all that the Smith family chooses to share with the public, fans are seemingly over it. A petition circulating the Internet on Change.Org is officially asking for the Smiths to stop being interviewed. At the time of writing, the petition has almost reached its goal of 25,000 signatures. “Everything I learn about this couple is against my free will. Free us,” wrote one signee. Another wrote that they have acquired more information about the Smiths “in the past 3 months than I have in 10 years.”
But 21-year-old Willow Smith is speaking up about whether her family, particularly her parents, are perhaps sharing too much information. In a recent interview with The Independent, Willow stated that she completely understands that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith “are their own people.” She then went on to express how many children are used to viewing their parents as people whose lives are only meant to appease their children. However, Willow soon learned that her parents have their own identities as well.
